World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Beta

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Beta

Last night I was sitting in my office diligently studying some materials for a work project and my personal email makes the bing sound. I look over and I have an email from World of Warcraft saying, “Welcome, you have been selected to participate in the beta test of World of Warcraft Shadowlands!” I was so excited that I began downloading the 18 gig patch immediately.

This is actually the third beta I have been invited to over the years. The first was Mists of Panderia, but who wasn’t invited to that one. Then I participated in the beta for the most recent expansion, Battle for Azeroth. Because I am not a power gamer I am always pleasantly surprised when I get invited to participate in a beta. But being a casual gamer means I don’t always read the patch notes first, I just jump in.

After the patch downloaded I jumped right in to play for about an hour before I had to be a grown up and go to bed. I still have a job to do come morning. First, I did not pay attention to the fact that you can start at different levels so I opted into the level 1 character and went to the starting zone. First impression: The graphics have experienced a major upgrade. This is particularly obvious when the quest chain takes you back to Stormwind.

There is a level squish so I don’t have to 120 to get to the new content. However, I do want to see the new content so I think I will look at creating another character so I can get to new stuff faster. After I read what I am allowed to share, I will share what I can. So Excited to play new content, especially since I am still stuck at home with very few options for entertainment.
