Music is an important part of my daily life. I grew up singing in choir, plays, and just bebopping along to songs in the car. While I no longer preform, I still sing along to music every day in the car. This is how I get through my long daily commute and stay sane 🙂
The main way I get my music if from Pandora and I do pay for the premium service so that I can customize the playlist. But some days it is fun to just put on a station and let the service feed new music and artists. Today I started with one of my favorite bands, The Score, and then based on other songs I like, up came Sound of Silence. The twist, this version is from Disturbed.
This song surprised me because Disturbed is usually a bit of an aggressive sound for me, but surprisingly the lead singer has a great voice for the song and the rendition was excellent. I have always loved Simon and Garfunkel, even though most people my age have never heard of them. The Disturbed rendition did the original work justice.
The thing about Sound of Silence is, if you look at the lyrics, they are as applicable today as they were when published in 1964. Think about it, “people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening.” If you are looking to hear a good song today, look it up and sing along.
